Traffic Law: Taskforce goes tough on Okada, impounds 105

The Lagos State taskforce on Environment and Special Offence Unit has impounded about 105 commercial motorcycles also known as Okada for flouting traffic laws.
TheStory gathered that the raid was carried out at Second Rainbow and Toyota bus Btop along Apapa- Oshodi Express way. Total of 105 bikes were impounded.

Speaking with TheStory on the enforcement, the Chairman of the Taskforce, CSP Shola Jejeloye, said that the enforcement became imperative following flagrant abuse of the traffic laws by the motorcyclists.

He said that the motorcylists ply all the roads and bridges prohibited by the law, adding that the state agency would continue to ensure full enforcement of the law in order to check needless crime and traffic gridlock as a result of lawlessness.

He added that the enforcement was mainly on those who plied the restricted route and equally a major Express forbidden by the law.

He said: “The Strike squad today carried out massive raid on okada riders at second rainbow / Toyota bus stop along Apapa-Oshodi Express Way. A total of 105 bikes were impounded in the process. A total 201 bikes were also impounded last week.”
