In a bid to enhance the standard of education in Nigeria through exposure to books that will educate the African Child on environmental sustainability, EkoPages has called for the adaptation of SDG themed books into the school curriculum.
The Chief Communications Officer of the outfit, Olayiwola Mariam, who disclosed this, said it is not just enough for children to read the books. She added the Government and stakeholders must also make sure that SDG themed literature texts are inculcated into both primary and secondary curriculum.
She said there is need to educate the younger generation on renewable energy and sustainable development goals in general through Literature, adding that the adaptation of SDG themed books into the school curriculum would go a long way in shaping the future of the younger ones.

EkoPages which also partnered with top international and local agencies to execute the SDG Literacy Drive across the 6 geopolitical zones, was responsible for the provision of the literature text, Jemima and the Wind Turbine as the main project materials.

Speaking on the development, the Team Lead of EkoPages, Tenn Zipa, emphasized on the importance of using Literature to educate the younger generation on the SDGs.
He said the pupils would have the privilege to learn better with stories and pictures, describing the books as a powerful tool to use in educating the kids on the SDGs.
TheStory gathered that the project which kick-started on the 18th of June, 2021 at the British Council, Ikoyi, came to an end on the 4th of February, 2022. During the duration, the team visited schools across Lagos, Oyo, Abuja, Edo, Enugu and Kaduna to educate children on sustainability and the SDGs.
The SDG Literacy Drive was birthed to educate the African Child on environmental sustainability, renewable energy and sustainable development goals in general through Literature.
