Breaking: Supreme Court Stops FG, CBN From Actualizing Feb. 10 Deadline

The Supreme Court on Wednesday has restrained the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, from banning the usage of old notes from February 10.

This came as some governors went to court to challenge the deadline given by the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, for the new naira swap.

Kaduna, Zamfara, and Kogi State have dragged the Federal Government to Supreme Court over the scarcity of old and new Naira notes due to the (CBN) naira redesign policy.

The state governments said they are worried by the effects the CBN naira redesign policy is having on the residents of their states.

Supreme Court adjourned the matter to 15th February 2023 and ordered that the old naira notes remain pending the outcome of the case.
